The project at Smith Terrace entailed a basement extension using contiguous piles and reinforced concrete retaining walls, a rear two-storey extension, and full refurbishment of an existing three-storey house.

PRP acted as party wall surveyors and CDM consultants and prepared the construction traffic management plan.

Piling below an existing building within a residential area meant that 6 party wall awards were required with the adjoining owners, including movement monitoring.

Extensive temporary works and basement excavation meant that the project was high risk from a health & safety perspective.

Concrete deliveries were problematic during the basement construction as the road outside was very narrow. PRP developed the construction traffic management plan that was approved by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
