PRP were instructed to manage a large converted Victorian care home that had experienced extensive fire damage resulting in significant structural and interior damage. To restore the care home to its original state and ensure the safety of its residents, a comprehensive reinstatement project was undertaken.

PRP arranged emergency works to ensure all services were made safe and provided project management, contract administration, asbestos surveying, principal designer and comprehensive structural design and specification services.

Emergency works: immediate actions were taken to make the site safe and removal of all fire related debris to allow thorough inspections to take place.

Project management: a dedicated project management team was assigned to oversee and coordinate the entire reinstatement process, including tendering the project, preparing the contracts and appointing the main contractor.

Contract administration: a JCT contract was prepared and administered along with valuations and progress meetings to ensure that the project was completed on time and within budget.

Asbestos survey: a refurbishment and demolition asbestos survey was conducted to identify any asbestos containing materials to allow the reinstatement works to be carried out without risk to the contractors.

Principal designer: acting as principal designer, the team facilitated the overall design coordination, ensuring compliance with the CDM regulations whilst considering the care home’s unique requirements.

Full civil and structural design and specification: the team provided comprehensive structural design and specification services to meeting current building regulations.

The project, completed in October 2021, successfully restored the care home to its pre fire condition, assisting to protect the long term safety and wellbeing of its residents.
